![]() Units themselves and consumable items can only be purchased for your own use (not given to another player). Are we handling Xenosathum economy correctly?Īs far as I know, we can purchase equipment and deploy it on other players' units in play. If done efficiently (with division abilities and deploying equipment on other players' units), it feels like we have too much purchasing power. Every player can purchase a tier 3 unit, deploy it fully equipped, and have change left over. Are we missing something about how often we can help each other?Īt wave 3, it's not uncommon to have three +3 Xenosathum cards in hand (in addition to the free +6 at start of round). I believe there is a limit of one ability per player in response to reveals / per combat. Once we get to wave 2, our lanes are filling with Stormtroopers and Field Medics every round, and there are at least 6-7 abilities to help keep units alive. We've tried reducing the HP total to 10 per player, but we still only lose about a third/quarter of our HP in wave 1 and 2. Our units just stop dying as much, their abilities accumulate, and we end up with full lanes and full equipment by wave 3 (at this point it's nearly impossible to lose). The game seems fine up until wave 2 and 3. We've played Xenoshyft (retail) about 8 times now with 3-4 players and won everytime. I feel like we had to have been doing something wrong, but there haven't been a lot of gameplay videos since the game launched. Science would just bomb them and we would keep melting faces. I think our biggest benefit was having the Pulsar Bombs, because if something had a terrible reveal effect, Mr. We were basically unkillable and the latter half of the game felt without drama. And, Cyogenics (myself) had units with 4-5 equipment (one or two cyogenics, an armor, a weapon, a cybernetic enhancement). The Science guy would just unload a handfull of bombs and mines on his opponents. ![]() ![]() So, we each played to our strengths, and two of us (science and psyogenics) didn't lose a single unit from round 5 on. But, the other two divisions were science (bombs) and medicine. We played with two expansions, Psyogenics, and (I forgot the name of the other one) Cybernetics? So, we had a lot going on. I went online and heard people say this game is very difficult. Now, after reading the rules and playing the game we survived with 4 people for all 9 rounds and our base still had 39 hp left. And, after opening all the stunning cards, we played our first game. Today one of my boardgame buddies got his kickstarter copy of Xenoshyft Onslaught to our table for the first time.
